Tip-off published for the UK pricing of the WiFi Apple iPad
Tech site Geeky Gadgets reports it’s received a tip on how much the Apple WiFi iPad will retail for when it goes on sale in the UK – and it’s no surprise that, keeping with trends for higher Apple prices compared to the US, consumers in the UK will have to pay a little more. As well as the extra VAT Steve Jobs has always justified the extra expense as being because it's more expensive to do business in this country and ship goods over here.
According to the site the 16GB WiFi iPad, expected to be the best-selling model, will retail for £389 in the UK, with the 32GB option priced at £439 and the 64GB WiFi model will be available for £489.
In comparison, matched against the US, UK consumers will have to pay approximately £63 more for the 16GB, £47 more for the 64GB and an additional £32 for the 64GB.
The information source leaking the pricing to Geeky Gadgets said the WiFi models are most likely to be available in the UK in April, opposed to the March date currently quoted on the Apple website. The site covered itself by saying it couldn’t be completely sure final pricing was 100 per cent correct but it was confident its source was reliable.
The WiFi and 3G model will obviously be a little pricier and, according to MacWorld magazine is expected to launch a little later in the UK at the end of April.
