UK ahead of US in world broadband ratings
As study by the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation has found the UK to be ranked 13th out of 30 in a study of broadband performance across the globe.
With a scoring system based on penetration rate, average download speed and the provider's lowest monthly package, the UK came out at a reasonable middle place ahead of the US, Luxembourg and Germany, whilst Finland, the Netherlands and France were all placed highly in the chart.
South Korea was placed first on the list, thanks to an adoption rate of 93 per cent. In South Korea the average download speed stands at 49.5Mbit/s, whilst the cost of access is around $0.37 (19p) per megabit.
In contrast, UK's penetration rate is currently at 55%, however the average download speed is a mere 2.6Mbit/s.
