UK Apple fans given chance to get duty-free iPad early

Apple has just started taking pre-orders for its iPad tablet in the US ahead of the 3 April launch date, with prices starting from $499 for the basic model. However, UK users aren't able to place pre-orders through the Apple website ahead of the official late April launch date.

However, for those who just can't wait internet pre-order site Bundlebox.com is giving UK consumers the chance to get an early shipment of the device with the promise of zero per cent import duty.

Apple requires a US postal address in order to pre-order a device from its website. However, to get around this technicality Bundlebox.com is giving UK consumers a chance to register for a free US postal address with the promise it will ship the tablet out within three days of the US launch.

If ordered through this site the 16GB WiFi iPad will be priced at £465.20 including shipping and VAT. It's also stated the tablet will qualify for duty-free by Customs as it should consider the table an automatic data processing machine.

Bundlebox.com was set up by former Google executive Andre Schmidt. He's estimated UK users could save themselves £30 if they order their iPad direct from the States, commenting: "By using BundleBox, Brits can now get an iPad at the same time as our friends from across the pond, without having the actually fly out and buy it."

If ordering from this site BundleBox has confirmed it will remove bulky packaging in order to minimise shipping costs. However, shoppers should note - if the device is shipped from the US it will, of course, come with American fittings.
