UK broadband customer complaints drop during 2009
Consumer complaints about internet service providers (ISPs) have plummeted over the course of the year so far, as figures published by the government-funded advice service Consumer Direct displayed a fall by more than a third.
Statistics showed the number of complaints regarding broadband amounted to 6,256 between January and the end of June. As a comparison, this was down 16.8 per cent year-on-year.
As consumers found less to complain about, internet service companies fell three places to the bottom of the 'top ten' list. In contrast, second-hand cars bought from independent dealers managed to rack up the most complaints with a total number of 24,672 cases.
In separate news, the Government's Business Link website launched today giving customers a new way to see advice over consumer right. Speaking on the launch, Consumer minister Kevin Brennan said: “We want to empower consumers so that they are confident about their rights when buying goods and services in shops via the internet... few complaints are also good for businesses. That's why we are working with companies on the Know Your Consumer Rights Campaign to help them improve their knowledge of consumer rights too.”
