Virgin Media 50Mb broadband rumoured for 15th December

After a group of journalists announced that they have been invited to an undisclosed event by Virgin Media on the 15th December, rumours are spreading that the ISP is set to launch its new 50Mb broadband service.

Virgin Media previously announced that the 50Mb broadband service would be launched before the end of the year, but were never willing to disclose an exact date. Asking tech journalists to “hold the date” insinuates that the company will almost certainly launch the new service before Christmas.

Leaks of Virgin Media’s new 50Mb modem have already been circulating and the ISP recently launched a campaign criticising online speed testers inability to successfully measure ultra-fast broadband services.

Virgin Media has refused to comment on the suspected launch. However, Broadband Genie will confirm the reason behind the event on the 15th.
