Virgin Media details new HD TV channels coming this year

As part of the growing range of HD channels on its TV service Virgin Media has announced it will shortly be offering Eurosport HD to its selection, at no extra cost for customers on its ‘XL’ TV package.

The addition of Eurosport HD heralds the arrival of the first of several new HD channels due to launch on Virgin Media’s TV service over the next coming months.

Eurosport HD will be available in April, giving customers viewing access to a number of popular sports events including Tour de France, French Open tennis, all European rounds of World Superbikes, the World Touring Car Championships and Athletics European Championships as well as selected tournaments from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and wintersports.

Additionally, in the months following the launch of Eurosport HD, Virgin Media ‘XL’ TV customers can look forward to a number of extra channels dedicated to drama, sport, documentaries and music, including BBC HD, 4HD as well as ESPN HD, Nat Geo HD, MTVNHD, FX HD and LIVING HD.

Speaking on the forthcoming HD Channels, Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media said: “With HD ready TVs now common in UK homes, the combination of HD channels as well as our pioneering TV on Demand service gives Virgin TV customers a huge range of HD programming with the unique flexibility to enjoy HD content whenever they want, at the touch of a button.”
