Vodafone free fridays extended over Christmas period

Vodafone users will get an extra Christmas present this year from their thoughtful and festive mobile provider - free internet from Christmas morning until the first day of 2010.

The company is offering an extension of its 'free Fridays' - a promotion which made internet access via mobile phones free to all Vodafone contract and pay-as-you-go customers all day on selected Fridays.

However, it's the 'via mobile phones' part of the deal that will be disappointing for mobile broadband users. If you get your internet fix via a dongle and a laptop rather than via a mobile phone then there's no Christmas goodies for you, we're afraid.

Basically Vodafone treats the mobile phone browsing crowd as being different from the dongle-browsing crowd; it's the same internet you're looking at but for Vodafone it's a bit of a billing distinction that allows them to charge differently without monitoring traffic. Ho hum.

Miserable old gits! Considering how rotten their service is to we dongle users, they should be giving us plenty of something back, in an apology! As soon as another company has what I want and lowers their costs, or ups their gB per £, I'm gone! Report abuse

"it's the same internet you're looking at" - WRONG

In fact you could not be any more wrong, have you ever viewed the likes of facebook or bbc on your mobile? its a slimmed down, almost diet version of the site, very few pictures, small amounts of text, normally no adverts etc it uses very small amount of the mobile network.
A dongle will give you the full fat, fully bloated version, picutes, video, annoying flash adverts, sound and heaps of text. Report abuse
