The phone needs to interpret these profiles to be able to provide a particular bluetooth based functionality. Most of the bluetooth smartphones in the market, even the cheap ones, support basic profiles like Headset and Handsfree. But some other profiles like Object Exchange (to transfer files), Dial-Up Networking, Keyboard Connectivity, and Printer Connectivity are not found in all phones. Like any other communication technology, bluetooth has its own data rate limitations. The data rate of a bluetooth phone depends on its version. Bluetooth Version 1.2 has a maximum data rate of 1Mbps; Version 2.0 +EDR can go up to 3Mbps, while Version 3.0 +HS can support a rate of 24Mbps.
