The latest and greatest gadget from Apple is finally here, but like the previous iPhones this is not a cheap mobile phone. Everything about the iPhone 5 is premium, from build quality to price, but if you’re looking for the best iPhone 5 deal you’ve come to the right place. At Broadband Genie we’ve not only got all the info you could want, we can help you find a cheap iPhone 5 too.

What’s new with the iPhone 5?

Ever since the first iPhone went on sale in 2007 Apple’s smartphone has had a 3.5-inch screen. That was big enough at the time but it’s now facing some tough competition from the likes of HTC, Samsung and Sony, not to mention Windows touch screen phones, so Apple has decided to increase this to 4-inches on the new iPhone.

And the screen is not only larger, it also has an increased resolution of 1136 x 640 and a pixel density of 326ppi. That means that as well as offering more space for your games and apps it remains incredibly sharp.

The iPhone 5 also gains a faster processor and graphics chip that’s twice as powerful so games and apps will be even more enjoyable.

To accommodate the new screen the iPhone 5 is larger, but Apple has only increased its height and not the width, and in fact the phone is thinner and lighter than previous iPhones. It continues to boast very high quality materials, with an aluminium body and Gorilla Glass on the front to protect the display.

iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S is still available and has had a price cut, making it a tempting option if you can’t quite stomach the iPhone 5 price. But is it worth going for the slightly older model over the new iPhone?

The biggest difference between the two is the display, which as mentioned is now 4 inches compared to 3.5-inches on the iPhone 4S, and although it’s only half an inch it does make for a noticeable improvement, particularly for videos and web browsing where the big screen is fully exploited.

Build quality is also significantly better, and this is actually a hugely important point of difference. The iPhone 4S had glass on the back of the handset which was very easily smashed, but the iPhone 5 has an all-aluminium build with glass only on the display. This will help it to stand up knocks better than the 4S.

The iPhone 4S is a good ‘budget’ iPhone option but with so many iPhone 5 deals out there you should check out the prices first and decide whether it’s worth saving that money or getting the very latest model.

iPhone 5 UK: what are the best iPhone 5 deals?

The iPhone 5 is available on all the UK networks - Three Mobile, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Orange - and If you take a look at the table above can see, and compare, the very latest iPhone 5 deals. We’ve summarised each one with the basic information you’ll need: the minutes, data and text included with the contract, the cost of the handset and the monthly fee.

To make a comparison even easier the last column is ‘effective cost’ and shows the total monthly cost of your iPhone 5 including handset fees. That way you can quickly see which offers the cheapest iPhone 5 deal before you buy, iPhone 5 may be expensive but there are still some great offers out there.

There are even some contracts offering a free iPhone 5, however you should be aware that these are going to be tied to two year contracts with relatively large monthly payments.

One of the most important things to look out for when buying your iPhone 5 is the amount of data you get each month. Like all modern 3G phones many of its features rely on an internet connection so to save getting hit with extra costs in your bill you should try to find a package which offers a high enough limit to handle downloads, music, video and all that other good stuff.
