ZTE doesn't have the brand presence of Samsung, HTC or Apple but is actually one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Until recently the phones have been issued under other names - like the Orange San Francisco - but as with HTC the company is making a renewed push without relying on third parties. 

The ZTE Grand X is one of the firm's major new releases and is notable for offering a large display and powerful specifications at a price that undercuts the competition. Despite packing in a 4.3-inch qHD screen and dual-core 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor this one is available on PAYG for under £200.

Along with 1GB RAM the ZTE Grand X also includes 4GB internal memory, which is fairly low, but this can be boosted by up to 32GB with a microSD card. Everything you'd expect from a modern smartphone is present and correct - including A-GPS, 21Mb mobile broadband, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, accelerometer - making this Android 4.0 handset a fantastic bargain.
