Cyber survey: Most Brits say companies still aren’t doing enough to secure their personal data
How safe do you feel online? In a recent poll conducted by Broadband Genie we found that 77% of internet users think it's becoming more dangerous, while 75% do not think companies are doing enough to safeguard our private data.
We asked 3,440 of you for your opinion about online security and safety. Among the findings, we discovered that almost everyone uses some kind of security software, with anti-virus, firewalls and anti-spyware the most popular. Despite this 54% say they have caught a virus at some point.
Our poll also showed that while 65% feel safe when they're online, the majority believe the internet is getting more dangerous.
Data privacy is also a big problem in a world where much of our personal lives can be exposed online. While only 12% have been the victims of an online scam, 75% do not think that companies are doing enough to protect our privacy. More than 40% said they would not continue to use a service if their personal information was leaked.
