Who are TalkTalk?
TalkTalk launched in 2003, after the consumer arm of Opal Telecom was bought and rebranded TalkTalk by The Carphone Warehouse. Through a series of acquisitions (most notably AOL, Tiscali and Pipex), TalkTalk became one of the biggest names in UK fixed-line broadband and is now a stand-alone company once again.
The mobile broadband side of TalkTalk launched in 2011 thanks to a deal with Vodafone to use its network for the service. This means you'll get a TalkTalk dongle and billing, plus its customer service team, but you will receive your data from the Vodafone mobile broadband network.
Currently TalkTalk is only offering a rolling one-month mobile broadband contract with 1GB download to existing customers, as it is very much testing the water and only offering mobile broadband as an extra service to its core home broadband business.
