All about Plusnet fibre broadband deals

Fibre broadband is rapidly becoming the default option for many households. Fibre networks are being rolled out across the country and deliver blisteringly fast speeds to many areas. Fibre broadband can either terminate at the street cabinet and connect to your property via the copper telephone line (FTTC) or use fibre to your home (FTTH). FTTH connections are much faster but rare. FTTC services like Plusnet are the next best thing; readily available, very affordable, and many times as fast as standard broadband!

Can I get Plusnet fibre broadband in my area?

Plusnet broadband utilises the BT Openreach telephone network like many non-cable broadband providers. This delivers coverage to up to 95% of the UK and speeds that average 54.2Mb. That means the majority of UK properties should have access to Plusnet fibre broadband.

Enter your postcode into our Plusnet fibre broadband checker to see if you’re one of that 95%:

What fibre broadband packages does Plusnet offer?

Plusnet Fibre Broadband

Plusnet Fibre Broadband is an excellent option for users who don’t need the fastest possible connection. With an average speed of 36Mb, it is fast enough for most uses without costing a fortune.

Plusnet Fibre Extra

Plusnet Fibre Extra is the fastest broadband package with speeds averaging 66Mb. This is an excellent package if you live in a busy household or use the internet a lot.

Plusnet fibre broadband vs BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Media

How does Plusnet fibre broadband compare to other popular broadband providers? This table compares leading alternatives so you can quickly identify which offers best value for you.

Provider Average speeds Cheapest price Fastest package price Notable extras
Plusnet 36Mb / 66Mb £22.99 (36Mb) £26.99 (66Mb) Fixed price guarantee.
BT 36Mb / 50Mb / 67Mb £24.99 (36Mb) £29.99 (67Mb) Free Wi-Fi.
Sky 36Mb / 59Mb £25 (59Mb) £25 (59Mb) Free Wi-Fi.
TalkTalk 36Mb / 67Mb £24 (38Mb) £24 (67Mb) Fixed price guarantee.
Virgin Media 54Mb / 108Mb / 213Mb / 362Mb / 516Mb £27 (108Mb) £45 (516Mb) Free Wi-Fi.

Prices correct as of 09/20.

Plusnet fibre broadband compares very well in terms of price. The fact they fix their prices during a contract is a welcome addition. While TalkTalk may offer cheaper broadband at the faster end, Plusnet is equal for the slower package.

Is Plusnet fibre broadband right for me?

Fibre broadband may be the fastest internet around right now, that doesn’t mean you have to have it. If you’re an occasional internet user or would only connect to check emails or pay bills, you may be able to get a slower connection for much less.

If you live in a busier household or use the internet a lot more often, fibre may be exactly what you need.

Get Plusnet fibre broadband if…

You need fast broadband. Fibre is fast and if you stream TV shows and movies, play games online or download files, it is the only way to go.

You need unlimited downloads. If you upload or download large files or use the internet all the time, a capped broadband package is unnecessarily restrictive.

You’re an online gamer. Online games demand the fastest connections you can get to remain competitive. High ping is the enemy of gaming and fibre delivers the fastest connection and the lowest ping you can have right now.

You stream movies or TV shows. ADSL can cope with Standard Definition streams but may struggle with HD or UHD streams. If you use one of the many streaming platforms out there, only fibre delivers the speeds necessary.
