Where to watch Stranger Things in the UK
Stranger Things was an instant cult hit when it first aired in 2016, but if you’ve not yet got round to checking out this retro sci-fi/horror show, it’s a great time to dive in because you can binge the first three seasons right now.
But where, and how, can you watch Stranger Things in the UK?
How to watch Stranger Things on Netflix
In order to watch Stranger Things, you’ll need a Netflix subscription. It's a Netflix original and you can only legally stream it through Netflix.
You’ll also need a compatible device to view Netflix, but if you’re reading this that won’t be a problem as Netflix works on just about anything. As well as streaming via a web browser, you can find Netflix apps for a multitude of other devices including smartphones, tablets, streaming sticks, smart TVs, and games consoles. Netflix is also available on the Virgin TV and Sky Q TV boxes.
What broadband speed do I need to watch Netflix?
Netflix recommends the following broadband speeds:
- Minimum speed required: 0.5Mb
- Recommended speed: 1.5Mb
- SD quality recommended speed: 3Mb
- HD quality recommended speed: 5Mb
- Ultra HD quality recommended speed: 25Mb
Cheap ADSL broadband can be suitable for viewing Netflix up to HD quality (though it may struggle if you try to stream more than one show at a time). For Ultra HD video or multiple HD streams, you will need fibre optic broadband.
In general, we recommend a minimum broadband speed of 2Mb to comfortably use any streaming video service at the lowest quality. But higher-quality video will demand more bandwidth, and you also have to consider whether other people in your home will be using the connection at the same time.
How much will it cost to stream Stranger Things?
Netflix subscriptions start from £5.99 per month. More expensive plans provide higher quality video and allow you to view multiple shows at the same time using one account.
Netflix plans are on a rolling monthly contract and can be cancelled at any time.
You can also get Netflix with Sky Ultimate TV, which provides access to Netflix as well as hundreds of Sky TV box sets. In order to sign up for Sky Ultimate TV you must have a Sky TV subscription.
