Just taken out a 12 month mobile broadband contract with Orange on a light user package (500Mb/month)
Very pleased with customer service and connection speed, done speed test and am getting download speed of 4.33Mbps and upload speed of 1.5Mbps and for only £5 per month.
    Very Happy Customer.

I have been using Orange Mobile Broadband at my current address in Bedford for nearly 2 years. Although better than the awful fixed-line speed to start with it has gradually declined to the point that the last month or so has seen a total drop off in line speed. My contract is up soon, but they are now charging a fortune for my current 3 gigs a month. This is no surprise since their phone coverage is worsening by the week. WAKE UP ORANGE !!! You are not keeping up with the advancing technology and usage levels so stop flogging promises of service that you know you can't meet.
PEOPLE, DO NOT enter into a fixed contract until you can check the equipment at home/work etc. There should also be a 28 day trial/refund period on all long contracts to check these product work as advertised.

Orange are the worst network. I bought a phone from HMV, the checked my area and told me it had excellent reception...Now I'm stuck paying £30 per month for an HTC that is not much better than a paper weight. I was previously a customer with Orange from their very beginning and when I contacted them about the lack of service in my new area, they did not want to know. The future is pish, the future is Orange!

I had a 500MB anytime contract at £8-33 per month. My download was alleged to be just over twice this for last month. My bill was for over £38- . How van they justify a cost like this. They also don't answer letters. No more of them for me.

this is my second orange dongle, better quality than the first, except i've move to lincolnshire from wales. the dongle use is basically useless, it stops to suit it's self, takes ages to start up & like other people have said it,s a waste of money & we're tied into a long contract.mines till dec 2011.i moved here jan this year & where i stayed first i used their BT internet now i live in my motorhome the dongle is useless.coverage should be stated before you're tied into a long contract.i wouldn't mind £15 per month for nothing.

the orange dongle is worse than useless. I 've talked to orange support and even though I am less than a mile from a 3g mast i've given up. I bought an 18 month contract and feel that I have been a victim of miss-selling

Had not bad speeds on my first contract so when orange rang me to offer to renew my contract for another 18 months i agreed at a reduced rate....BIG mistake. The speeds are truly awfull now and most times my connection is non existent. Data drops/Dissconnects for no apparent reason as i am in a very strong 3g area..I Am embarresed at how many times i have had to contact the customer service folks at orange, which gets me nowhere really as the problem remains.. Looking forward to when this contract ends TBH

I use an Orange E1752 dongle. My initial speeds were 2.5mb/s for a year, then they dropped to less than 0.05mb/s.
I eventually found out from Orange that the local to me mast was faulty,”degraded” in their jargon.
Two months now and still not fixed.

I made the mistake of buying the Orange USB dongle in Spain for connection whilst I'm at our place over there.

At first it wasn't too bad, although I was seriously annoyed that only a week after paying forty euros for the dongle they totally change the pricing plans. I certainly would NOT have bought had I known how they were going to change them.

But the worst of it all is the speeds you get now. Ig you get 10kbps you're lucky. Typically on 3g+ I get about 5 or 6.

It literally takes minutes for web pages to load and downloading of files is pretty much impossible unless you have several hours to spare.

I just tried downloading a 24 meg file. It took about 40 minutes to get the first 8 meg of the file and then bombed out.

    Absolutely scandalous.

I would take the advice of pretty much everyone else on here and stay well clear of Orange.

Very slow broadband. Terrible in the tall buildings of Canary Wharf, London.

I was tied into an 18 month contract for £5, which just expired. I left them without hesitation. I was literally getting speeds of 5kb/sec. And in Canary Wharf, with good signal, I was getting zero download speed.

I've changed the connection to Three, and so far I'm very happy. Even with below-par signal strength it's a fairly quick connection (around 1Mb/sec).

Quite possibly the worst internet service on the planet! Its strange because at one point it was fine and then now its dreadful! all the respons i got was well in Scarborough theres not a good signal anyway! well do u knw something if thats the case DONT SELL IT TO PEOPLE!! Ive never asked to cancel the contarct but just to upgrade to something a bit more efficent but i just got fobbed off! £30 a mnth for this SHOCKING!

I signed up to Orange's monthly plan mainly to get access to the wifi BTOpenzone hotspots, which is included in the tariff. Problem is, it doesn't work!! After spending hours on the phone with them trying to debug the problem, one agent finally spilled the beans and admitted, "Oh, we've had lots of trouble with people trying to use BTOpenzone. It doesn't always work."

So, if hotspot wifi access is what you're looking for, you're not going to get it with Orange.

"For starters, the Huawei E1752 is a horrible dongle - it feels and looks cheap, rattled around in the USB slot and on several occasions the SIM cover just fell off."
Can't agree with any of this - looks and feels ok to me, the usb connector is perfectly standard, secure enough, doesn't move, and the SIM cover has never come off accidentally. Maybe a problem with the usb socket, maybe the SIM cover wasn't put on properly? Also, why do people have a problem with 'up to', as though it's in some way misleading? It means what it says and does NOT imply that you will get that speed. In my view, an unfairly negative and cynical review.

    Dear Jean,
don't worry you're not alone, believe me they are all rubbish if your select the wrong provider for your area. I am on contract with orange £15/m for 3gb.
Landlines in our village (midlands) provide 0.3Mb speed with frequent outtages, no good!
I chose an orange dongle after looking at the Ofcom website, Sitefinder, to find my nearest 3G mast. Guess what? at home I can now get a speed of 0.05Mb yes 0.05Mb! However, if drive 300metres around a hill I can get 2.7MB! Consequently I frequently sit outside B&Q or McDonalds with my laptop/dongle combo. The Orange website says I can get 3.6MB at my postcode but then they would say that wouldn't they?

Can't unbderstand bad reviews re Orange customer service as have been with Orange 12 yrs and always get British call centre with polite and helpful staff. Just signed up to Orange mobile broadband and delighted to see I get 3G+ in a small town. Yes Youtube/Iplayer don't always work, but for £10 a month and a dongle which arrived less than 48 hrs later has helped me through moving house. BT can't connect for 5 weeks, don't seem to care . Orange sold me cheapest package and explained how I could add if needed to but no pressure to buy. I think Orange customer service is the best I've experienced. Is based in Newcastle area, are people mistaking accents for Indian?!!

Hi out there. I'm looking for mobile broadband for Peebles in Scotland and am reading lots of negative reviews on Vodofone and O2 so wondering if anyone has suggestions. Pay as you go, online a fair bit during the day just now so I suppose 3gb would be fine, but is there anything that DOESN'T have the 30 day limit? Would prefer to top up as needed, likethe mobile phone.
    Thanks.

I'm totally fed up, I've poor erratic connections for a few months now and since 5th November all I can get is GPRS only, rang Orange several times, I've been told that the 'mast is down', 'the mast has been hit by a car' the mast is over loaded' 'the mast needs new cells' 'the mast has been vandalised' 'the mast is owned by Nokia and they have not given a reapair date' the mast is a long 2 mile walk that's why it's taking a long time to fix' It can't be fixed in the dark ! 'the mast is on land they are having trouble accessing', 'The mast could be in the middle of a farmers field and they can't gain access' 'they are waiting for engineers, they are busy repairing other masts,' 'they are waiting for new parts'. and it goes on and on, and still no info at all as to a repair day! In my opinion all the problems started when they took over T mobile and gave T mobile customers the 'OK' to use the orange network but out of all the excuses I've had so far they 'Assure' me that the total loss of 3G has nothing to do with it ??? seems a coincidence though ??? I'm 9 months into my 2nd 18 month contract with my dongle and I've never been offered a dongle upgrade and have been told also I'll have to wait till next June for that, something else I find unfair, 27 months and still got same dongle !

I made the mistake of getting into an 18 month contract with Orange after falling for their misleading advertising. The download speeds were so slow that watching YouTube videos wasn't really an option, yet my bills were sky high. My average monthly charge was between £50 and £60, so I contacted them to try and sort it out. Orange's Customer Service process turned out to be utterly useless and totally frustrating. I was basically passed between two departments, neither of which was would accept responsibility for sorting my problem out. When I refused to buy my way out of the contract, I was told the best option would be to upgrade my data allowance (i.e. increase my monthly payment). I'd had enough and decided to hit them where it hurts (profits) by requesting the lowest data allowance possible. I'm now paying £5 per month until the contract expires. At least I've minimised my losses/ their profits and whilst they still win in the short term, they ultimately lose because I won't ever come back to Orange. If we all did this, useless profiteering companies like Orange would soon go out of business.

I had the same problem with Mobile Broadband from Orange - dead-slow connection speed and lame excuses when I phoned them.I found out from my girlfriend who works for a big Telecoms firm that Orange are divesting of the Mobile Broadband service, so they are now last priority on bandwidth allocation. They consider it a big headache but they won't tell you that. I've managed to get out of the Orange Mobile Broadband after a few complaints by phone were at first fobbed off by seemingly surprised customer service phone staff who admitted that the degradation was going to last indefinitely. After 4 or 5 complaints they eventually allowed me to exit the contract 5 months early with no penalties and effective immediately. I'm now off the dongle dependence, using an HTC Desire phone for mobile surfing (still with Orange) and a landline connection with PlusNet, who are a brilliant provider.

I've been with Orange for mobile broadband for a couple of years now. At first it was excellent, good speeds and the connection was stable. I move to orange after having problems with T-mobile, slow speeds, erratic connection a real nightmare. Since Orange and T-mobile started their merger the nightmare has returned. It may be a coincidence but the service I'm getting now is exactly the same as it was under t-mobile. I'll be looking at ways to terminate my contract, I've had enough, over two months of problems with no solution in sight.

I have used this service for 5 months. In Northwest London. The last two months internet has become extremely slow, reminds me of the dialup era.
The usage counter on the computer automatically fails arround day 15 every month and therefore i have no indication of my usage for the rest of the month. This makes you think.
Not good service overall for the amount i spend. Also had the shocking experience of excessive billing for 3 extra Gb, not sure if this was right since the counter had failed for 2 weeks

Had icon 225 for over 2 years @ £24.99 not one bill ever over that amount, got call from orange asking me would I renew contract for another 18 months, and if I kept the icon 225 dongle I have they would reduce my monthly payment to £15 with same usage allowance which is 10 GB ...... sinse agreeing to this out off 4 bills 2 have been way over the amount they should be the latest being £40 over and when I called to querey it seems I've been charged £40 for watching a few you tube vids ????? Orange also keep telling me that there is a usage counter to download at www.orange.co.uk/updates but I have been round the whole god damn site and searched through google etc and I can't find it.......I can't afford for my dongle bills to be over the top and I'm always careful and not excessive so I'm shocked at these bills and keep wondering why? it has never been a problem for over 2 years and now it is ??? does anyone know where I can get a data counter from for this dongle? help would be much appreciated. thanks.

Literally the worst all round service I have ever had. Months on end of disgracefully slow service and each time I call orange for help they simply blame downgraded masts, fob you off until next and just so unhelpful.

Internet barely works most the time, often just cuts out randomly and is soooo slow. I'm in the Stratford, London area.

I've been using Orange mobile broadband for over a year now and have been relatively happy with the service while I was living in South Yorkshire. Now, after moving to North London, I am about to demand they terminate my contract. Although in the past months the connection speeds have been spotty - sometimes great, sometimes terrible, my connection speeds in the last few weeks have been unbearably slow. The Orange consultant I spoke with on the phone said that most of the masts in North London suffer a seriously degraded signal and there is no ETA when they will get it sorted. I don't know if other operators are any better but if this keeps up for another week, I am cancelling my contract prematurely and moving to one of the other players. This isn't the kind of service I expect when I pay £30 per month. I agree with another reviewer that if you go over your limit, you will be paying extortionate fees. That goes for mobile phone usage too (20p per minute). Anyone have better mobile broadband experience with 3G, Vodafone or O2?

Yes, be very careful with the broadband mobile service, it is poor. The best bet at the moment is mobile wifi dongle from Three which is cheap to run (in my experience) and allows you access via multiple devices which is great

I've had an orange mobile broadband dongle for approx 18 months and am leaving the service now. My review:
The speed never exceeded 260Kb/s despite the messages about being connected to a 3.6Mb/s signal.
At "peak time" it can literally crawl at 4 or 5Kb/s.
Exceeding your limit is very very expensive. Be very careful not to go over as you can easily find yourself paying an extra £20 to £40 in costs.
The consumer base for orange has clearly grown and with many people using the mobile broadband connection at once the service can at times be very poor. Very low download rates and constant disconnections.
Please no more twits posting about how expensive the masts are, research the profits for the fiscal year and you may get a surprise...
    My conclusion:
If you HAVE to use mobile broadband then check out your options with many of the competitors who I think offer a better service. Make sure they offer a cooling off period to test the signal strength for your route with the option to terminate the contract if you are not satisfied.
IMO Orange needs to invest more in their technology to provide faster and more connections, as it stands the monthly basic rate is very overpriced.

Did you have your free laptop stolen too? My husband and I entered into a 24-months deal with Orange including a free Asus eee laptop with built-in broadband. It got stolen on holiday before it was even connected. We reported it to Orange straight away. Although we were willing to buy it out of the travel insurance, Orange would not let us have a replacement as they "don't sell these laptops". They referred us to Asus. However, Asus do not sell these laptops either where you can insert an Orange SIM card (Orange replaced the SIM card), these are only built and available from Orange. Back to Orange then who are now chasing us to pay the monthly bill for a service we never had because we are not even able to even buy a replacement. See you in court then, Orange!
