Comparing home broadband in Plymouth
Plymouth has access to a wide range of fixed-line home broadband services. For ADSL the exchanges are enabled for both standard connections up to 10-11Mb, and there are numerous LLU providers which means you’ll have an extensive choice of ISPs using BT lines.
For faster broadband, there’s the option of both BT fibre optic and Virgin Media fibre optic up to 1Gb. Fibre to the home, with speeds also of up to 1Gb, is also available albeit in a relatively limited fashion.
BT network fibre optic is more widespread and available on a greater selection of providers, while Virgin Media broadband may not be available to every home, but can offer excellent speeds and the option for broadband without a phone line; which can be an option if you are looking for internet only offers.
When comparing home broadband offers use our postcode search to filter out the results by location, this will narrow down the results to show only those deals available in your area.
Comparing mobile broadband in Plymouth
Residents of Plymouth and the surrounding area enjoy a good level of support from the UK’s mobile network operators. The four networks - EE, Three, O2, and Vodafone - all provide 4G service in central Plymouth and out to the surrounding area, including Plympton, Millbrook, St Budeaux, Torpoint, Roborough and Saltash. O2 and Vodafone probably boast the best mobile coverage outside the centre of Plymouth. Coverage does get patchier as you head further into the countryside, however. There is also quite good 5G access in Plymouth, from most of the networks.
Before committing to any mobile broadband package you should ensure that the coverage and performance will meet your requirements. This is particularly important with 4G and 5G, which both have a more limited reach than the more established 3G services.
