Is SSE broadband down?
If you’ve lost connectivity there can be various causes. It may be the equipment in your home, or perhaps a wider issue with the network.
- First, try rebooting your computer or other devices. Then try rebooting the Wi-Fi router. If you still don’t have a connection it may be a network problem.
- Check the official SSE Twitter feed for service updates.
- You can also use Down Detector, a third party outage tracking tool, to see if there’s a reported problem with SSE broadband.
If you can’t see any report of a network issue, then you should contact support. But if there is a network problem you’ll have to wait for it to be fixed - phoning customer services won’t make any difference.

Complaining about SSE to Ombudsman Services: Communications
If you cannot agree a satisfactory outcome with SSE you can make a complaint to the ombudsman using the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process.
The ombudsman for SSE is Ombudsman Services: Communications.
In order to go to the ombudsman you must have either received a deadlock letter from SSE, or had no response from SSE for eight weeks.
